The Healing Power of Sound Workshop with Kirtan Scotland – Sunday 24 September 1530-1700hrs

According to British Vogue in June 2016 ‘Chanting is the new mindfulness’.  Join us at the end of the Pink Lotus Yoga Festival weekend to explore Kirtan and its relation to the healing power of sound and vibration.  Using stories, anecdotes, chants, sound we’ll inquire into aspects of bhakti, jnana, mantra – how vibration is everything and chanting is everywhere.

About Diane

I’ve been an itinerant yoga practitioner since 2004 and a regular practitioner since 2010 when, on a juice retreat, I was shown what all the facets of yoga really were by a fantastic Irish yoga teacher called Kenny.  I have practiced a number of styles, Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Bikram, Kundalini and Sivananda – in 2011 I started Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training with the Karam Kriya School in London.  I’ve been extremely blessed to have attended courses, workshops and classes with Rajashree Choudury, Maya Fiennes, Swami Krishnadevanda, Alan Finger, Guru Dharam, Ragunath, Leslie Kaminoff James Boag, Kirtan Scotland – and of course, after moving back to Aberdeen in 2013, many of the amazing local yoga teachers here!  I was fortunate enough to have found and had the opportunity to complete my Hatha Yoga teacher training with Karina.

Everything about yoga fascinates me – from the Vedas, Upanishads, the Gita, Bhakti, mantra, to the asana practice – I really believe that through sound, movement, stillness and breath, seeing life in a bigger perspective, you can achieve a freedom in the physical body that creates a calmness in the mind which affects the emotions and ultimately, the spirit.  I have found Aberdeen to have a friendly and vibrant yoga community and am honoured to be helping Karina organise the Pink Lotus Yoga Festival for the second time, with the Pink Lotus Yoga Foundation we set up in 2016.
